BOODLES

Founded in 1798 in Liverpool, at the dawn of the city’s golden age, Boodle and Dunthorne became the city’s leading jewellers. For the next century, as Liverpool flourished, so did the company. The Wainwright family originally owned another jeweller in Parker Street, Liverpool, but in 1910 bought Boodle and Dunthorne and amalgamated the two businesses into one company. Under the auspices of Henry Wainwright, the business continued to prosper and in 1926 moved to Boodles House, the company’s Georgian home in Lord Street, where it remains to this day.
Throughout the 1930’s and war years, Henry and his son Herbert oversaw the supply of watches and chronographs to the Admiralty and Air Ministry. For many years they designed and produced the solid gold trophies, which were presented to the Grand National winner at nearby Aintree.

In 1945, Captain Anthony Wainwright was in Burma when he received the terrible news that both his grandfather and father had died within a couple of weeks of each other. He had been awarded the Burma Star and was released from National Service. He was the first man to return home from the campaign so that he could run the family business.Retaining his military bearing to the end, he was succeeded by sons Nicholas and Michael in 1992.

Nicholas became responsible for the creative direction of the company and Michael developed the commercial side of the business. London stores were opened in Regent Street, Harrods, Royal Exchange and Sloane Street.
As the 20th century was drawing to a close, with the growth of international jewellery brands, Michael and Nicholas had a vision to become the British jewellery brand that could compete head to head with the very best in the world. Boodles focused on the acquisition of rare and exquisite gemstones, a highly talented in house design team, and the workmanship of leading British master craftsmen.

Six generations on, Boodles remains a totally family owned British company employing 100 people, with Jody, Nicholas’ son and James Amos, nephew of Nicholas and Michael, immersed in the company’s culture of integrity, dedication to quality and customer service.

JADE JAGGER

Jade Jagger opened her first standalone boutique, ‘Jade Jagger’, on Friday 26th November 2009. Occupying an elegant but avant-garde space on All Saints Road, W11, the boutique embodies Jade’s acclaimed maverick and modern aesthetic identity.

In addition to the dazzling displays of precious trinkets available from the store, Jade’s collection of strikingly beautiful hand-beaded boho-luxe dresses will be available to purchase in limited colour and designs. These pieces are a tangible expression of Jade’s rock n’ roll heritage, an extension of her carefree personality, and are exclusive to the ‘Jade Jagger’ boutique. Jade began her career as an artist in the late 1980’s. After studying painting in Florence she held numerous successful exhibitions of her works before her freewheeling entrepreneurial spirit led her to set up Jade Inc., applying a colourful, bohemian aesthetic to one-of-a-kind jewellery pieces.

She was appointed Fine Jeweller to Garrard in September 2000, seeing out a successful six year creative directorship. In 2005 Jade set her sights on interior design, joining residential design brand ‘Yoo’ to design chic apartments internationally including The Jade in New York. In 2008 Jade’s jewellery was again in the spotlight with the “Jagger Dagger”: a precious ice-pick made of white gold and lapis, designed for Belvedere Vodka. Not content with designing world famous interiors and jewellery, Jade then expanded into fashion, designing couture and luxury pieces now sold alongside her bijoux at the first Jade Jagger store in West London’s All Saints Road. In 2009, while spending time at her second home in Ibiza Jade founded Jezebel: a street-chic music and clothing lifestyle brand born as an antidote to the island’s mainstream sounds. Now globally feted for both her laid-back lifestyle and her keen eye for design, Jade’s maverick sensibility, combining high-rolling luxury and grounded values, has earned her critical acclaim in newspapers and magazines the world over.
